He also lectures for the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine. His early career focused on Alzheimer’s disease at two medical schools – St. Louis University and Washington University in St. Louis. For the 11 years prior to moving to Maine, he directed the Gerontology Graduate Program at the University of Missouri – St. Louis. His research interests include driver fitness and transportation mobility in aging, reminiscence and life review interventions, coping with loss, and screening for cognitive impairment (and other topis). He is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and known internationally for his work on driving.
