Martin, DO Related seminars and products: 1 Kansas City University-JoplinDr. Martin graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy in 1974 and practiced as a hospital pharmacist in Enid, OK for 2 years. Matriculating at Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in 1976, he is a 1979 graduate of Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Martin went on to complete his postdoctoral training at a rural Family Medicine program in Tulsa, OK and becoming board certified by the ABOFP in 1986. He was inducted as a Fellow of the College of Family Practice in 1996, and received recognitions as a distinguished fellow in 2005.In private family medicine practice for the first 17 years of his professional carreer, Dr. Martin served as Chief of Staff and the medical director for Enid Regional Hospital. In 2006 Dr Martin was named as the founding Dean for Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Colorado. Moving to Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009, Dr. Martin served that institution as a faculty member, the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and as Vice Dean for Post Graduate Affairs. Dr. Martin went on to be named as the founding Dean and CAO for the Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine in April of 2012. Dr. Martin retired from Liberty at the end of 2016, and then the following year Dr. Martin served as the interim Dean of the COM at Joplin for Kansas City University. Dr. Martin retired once again and returned to Oklahoma in March 2019.Dr. Martin has served on multiple American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), American Osteopathic Association (AOA), state and federal government health care related committee’s and boards, including the DUR boards of Oklahoma and Iowa as well as the state Health Department Planning Committee and Rural Health Association in Oklahoma. His ACOFP service continues through service on the Past President Committee, the ACOFP Foundation and as the Convention Chairman. After Serving on and as the Chairman of the Pre Doctoral Committee for the AOA and the AOA Bureau of Education, he served for an additional 6 years on it successor, the Commission for Osteopathic College Accreditations and has been active in pre-doctoral and post-doctoral education and evaluation for many years. Dr Martin has been active in medical policy and politics, serving as a delegate to the AOA House of Delegates for four different states every year but one over the past 33 years. During that time he has served on several reference committees’ at the house. He currently serves on the AOA Bureau of Federal Health Policy and as Chairman of the association’s political action committee, (OPAC).Dr. Martin has presented extensively as an educator throughout the past 30 years.
