He spent 4 years with the Public Health Service in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. There he helped to build a hospital that still functions today. After a stint in New York, he lived, worked and developed a trauma center in Sioux City, where he put DC10s in corn fields. He worked with the state of Iowa in developing Iowa’s trauma system. He has worked with patients in pain for his entire career, working before the opioid epidemic.
