Landmarklabs – Easy SEO Checklist – Notion Template
Getting started with SEO can feel daunting. All this talk about meta-descriptions, title tags, keywords and backlinking…
The good news is: there are countless excellent resources out there (accessible and simple to understand, too!) to help you find your footing.
But while there are plenty of resources on the ‘how’, there are fewer resources to actually help you implement.
Lots of theory, not so many tools.
That’s what this SEO Starter Kit is for. To help you instantly add a clear framework for your SEO-driven content efforts, right in your Notion workspace.
Inside, you’ll find:
A sortable keywords database;
A section for setting SEO targets;
Link-building database and board to track your outreach;
Content calendar;
Tools for SEO and prospecting;
An on-page SEO checklist; and
A home dashboard to help you tie it all together.
Let’s take a closer look at each of these sections in more detail.
Notion SEO Keywords Database Template
One of the most important aspects of SEO is, you guessed it, keywords. You need to be strategic about the keywords you’re targeting, and track your progress over time.
This database lets you quickly store key information about your keywords, which will let you then sort them by things like volume, difficulty and search intent later on (much like Ahrefs, only customizable in Notion!).
To start with, there are some dummy keywords included, with data attached to each to help you get a sense of what the template should look like in action–feel free to delete those keywords as soon as you understand how it all fits together.
Included as properties in this database are:
Volume
Difficulty
CPC
Opportunity
Topic
Search Intent
A ‘Published’ checkbox; and
Any linked Content pieces
Setting SEO Targets & Objectives in Notion
The next step is to set some targets and objectives for your SEO efforts. Notion’s flexible database system comes in handy here again; you can easily track things like:
Your target monthly search traffic;
Your target organic conversion rate;
Your target organic click-through rate (CTR); and
Your target rankings for certain keywords.
This is a great way to keep track of your progress over time and make sure you’re on track to hit your goals.
Link-building Database & Notion Board
Link building is another important SEO tactic, and one that can be difficult to keep track of. This Notion template lets you easily track your link prospects in one place, so you can see at a glance who you’ve contacted, what the status of each link is, and what your next steps are.
The Notion Board included in this template is great for visualizing your progress–you can quickly see which links are in progress and which have been completed.
Content Calendar
Organizing your content efforts is crucial to making sure your SEO strategy is effective. This Notion template includes a content calendar that lets you see at a glance what’s been published, what’s in progress, and what’s coming up next.
You can also track things like word count, publish date, and estimated traffic for each piece of content. This is a great way to make sure your content strategy is aligned with your SEO goals.
Tools for Notion SEO & Prospecting
This Notion template also includes a section for tracking the tools you’re using for your SEO efforts. This is great for quickly referencing things like what keyword research tool you’re using, what link-building tool you’re using, and so on.
You can also use this section to keep track of any other tools you’re using for prospecting or content creation.
On-page SEO Checklist
Last but not least, this Notion template includes an on-page SEO checklist to help you make sure each piece of content you publish is optimized for search engines.
This checklist includes items like making sure you’ve included your target keywords in the title, in the meta description, in the body of the post, and so on.
Notion SEO Home Dashboard
All of these Notion templates come together to form a complete SEO dashboard that you can use to track your progress, set goals, and stay organized.
The Notion SEO home dashboard includes links to all of the other templates in this article, so you can easily access them from one place.
You can also add your own Notion pages to this dashboard to customize it to your specific needs.
Are Notion pages indexed by Google?
By default, your Notion pages will not be indexed by Google. However, you have the option to make them indexed in the ‘Share’ menu. This share menu is specific to each page–so you can select the pages you’d like to appear in search engines.
To do this, simply click the ‘Share’ button in the top-right corner of the page, click ‘Link options’, then toggle the ‘Search engine indexing’ to be on.
