This comprehensive DVD, from ITTA Certified Instructor Chuck Duff (www.thaimassageschool.net), shows in detail a 1-hour Thai massage sequence, applying the same sequence on both the mat and the table with appropriate body mechanics. No prior knowledge is assumed. Thai massage is unique in that it can benefit both the giver and the receiver if properly performed. Western style therapists often experience symptoms of occupational disability, due to an over-reliance on strength. Thai massage can save the student’s hands and give new life to a career, particularly as Chuck teaches it. Chuck’s highly regarded teaching style emphasizes proper alignment, positioning, body mechanics, and working with core energy rather than muscle strength. Through mindful repetition, the student is guided into learning the concepts of effortless application. Chuck’s background in yoga, martial arts and therapeutic bodywork gives him a unique and powerful framework for teaching efficient full-body movement. Chuck first teaches the viewer how to perform a highly effective 1-hour Thai massage sequence on the mat, beginning from first principles. Once the concepts of fluid, effortless movement are established on the mat, he covers the specific adaptations that are necessary on the table, and shows the complete flow as it looks on the table. The DVD also introduces several other important Thai massage topics covered at Thai Bodywork School of Thai Massage, including HandsFree Thai ™, Clinical Thai Bodywork, and Luk Pra Kob herbal compress treatments. HandsFree Thai is a unique and exciting training developed by Chuck to provide a comprehensive treatment modality that totally avoids stress on the therapist’s upper body. The broad pressure provided by this style is wonderful for the receiver, particularly athletes and larger clients. Clinical Thai Bodywork grew out of Chuck’s experience in successfully treating conditions of pain and dysfunction. This course series gives the student a framework and tools for addressing specific pain conditions, while adhering to the traditional principles and techniques of Thai massage.
